The problems with screens and seals

Rotating shower screens and bathtub doors are very popular but they:

• notoriously leak causing frustration, water damage and sometimes injury

• have installation instructions to reduce leaks that DIYers often don't follow

• rely on shower users to ensure seal strips aren't kinked anywhere before use

• seal strips go green with algae quickly as water gets into the glass U channel 

• have a variety of seal strips that can be difficult to find exact replacements

• require unsightly threshold bars to restrict leaks that can be trip hazards

• don't always fit if the wall is not square or if the bath design slopes down

• only rotate in OR out - which restricts access for entering or cleaning

Our market research shows 92% experienced swing bath screens leaking of those surveyed at the three day Installer Show in 2024. Over 60% had witnessed actual water damage themselves! Plus with the abundance of negative product reviews as well as YouTube video views about the frustration of leaking shower screens, demonstrates there is a strong market need for a solution and people want it!!

The work arounds that don't work

We know home owners search "how to stop my shower or bath screen leaking?" seeking to waterproof their showering space as we get the enquiries through and hence have started a mailing list!  Bathroom installers, hotel chain operators, landlords, letting agents and house builders also don't want leaking swing screens as they are invested in their performance! People may try replacing the screen, maybe even installing a bulky unsightly expensive sliding door mechanism, but others may not want to swap their shower screen so look for other work arounds to reduce the impact like:

• trying new seals with little effect, towels and mopping floors

• adding ugly mouldy shower curtains that need replacing often

• where access isn't required, permanently fixing their screen!

 

Frustratingly, it is often just bad design that creates gaps most notably between where the seal meets the screen hinge but also water can get through even the tiniest of gaps in joins in the mechanisms or where seals kink or twist. All this unnecessary replacement of screens and seals, repairing the water damage and cleaning green algae is also costly and bad for the environment... but now it is solved!

The solution is finally here!​

Nearly 5 years ago, our award winning proprietor Brett Cattlin, a perfectionist product designer with over 25 years experience installing bathrooms, set out to fix these frustrating problems he encountered regularly and was unable to find a solution for. After thousands of hours prototyping, Brett perfected the designs to stop swing shower screen leaks in various places, even without having to change the screen! One UK patent is already granted (GB2609237A) and others are pending in the UK and around the world, all protected by worldwide Intellectual Property insurance by CFC! After initial investment from an industry experienced Chartered Accountant Kimberley who had encountered leaky screens in a rental portfolio, Brett and Kimberley joined forces to launch Watertight™ Screens as they both wanted a solution themselves! We are now in discussions with various manufacturers, distributors and retailers all over the world to integrate our technology into screens and supply our seals because
